CDC is looking for a Public Health Analyst for a contract role in Cincinnati, OH.
Skills:
· Candidates must have a graduate- or professional-level degree or equivalent training and experience in a discipline related to occupational hearing loss prevention. Such disciplines include medicine, public health, occupational health, industrial hygiene, audiology, acoustics, engineering, epidemiology, and allied health.
· Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the adverse effects of noise and best practices in occupational hearing loss prevention.
· Candidates must have a background in conducting research and a basic understanding of statistics.
· Candidates must have strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write a scientific report of publishable quality in English.
· Candidates must have excellent organizational and project management skills, as well as the ability to work in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
· Conduct scientific literature searches to identify relevant research in topic areas in which updates to the criteria document are being considered.
· Use databases including PUBMED CENTRAL; PubMed; Embase; CINAHL; Web of Science; BIOSIS Previews; Cambridge Scientific Abstracts; and OSH UPDATE to identify relevant research studies
· Back search using reference lists in reviews, studies, guidelines, and other related articles to identify other published studies of interest.
· Search conference abstracts and other grey literature for additional research findings.
· Identify possible sources of unpublished data.
· Examine the overall quality of the evidence in studies identified in Task 1 across multiple domains.
· Assess risk of bias in research data (study limitations from an internal validity perspective).
· Estimate precision in individual studies based on sample size and effect size.
· Determine overall direction and magnitude of effects and assess generalizability.
· Synthesize available information using systematic reviews or other relevant methods.
· Summarize results across identified studies in each topic area under consideration for revision in the updated criteria document.
· Evaluate of the possibility of conducting a meta-analysis across groups of studies.
· Assist in drafting sections of the revised criteria document.
· Coordinate the development and implementation of a dissemination plan promoting updated recommendations from the revied criteria document.
· Present findings from systematic reviews and meta-analyses at conference and through publications in peer-reviewed journals.
· Publish plain language summaries in the NIOSH Science Blog and in trade journals.
· Collaborate with health communications staff to use social media and other platforms deemed appropriate to disseminate revised recommendations for hearing loss prevention.
· Assist with administrative tasks associated with NIOSH scientific and policy review.
