Job Description
Gwinnett County is looking for an Equity and Inclusion Officer (EIO) for a perm role in Lawrenceville, GA. Relocation assistance available – Out of state candidates encouraged to apply. The Equity and Inclusion Officer (EIO) champions and oversees the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Gwinnett County Equity and Inclusion Action Plan. This position will lead high-profile projects that directly impact core operations through collaboration with Elected Officials, County leadership, and staff to deliver sustainable solutions that support the goal of achieving equitable and inclusive outcomes and culture. The EIO will be responsible for developing policies, practices, and programs that create a climate of equity and inclusion throughout the County. This includes providing guidance and support to County departments in developing strategies that promote equity and inclusion in all areas of County operations, such as hiring practices, training and development, service delivery, and community engagement. Key Responsibilities: Leading Change: The EIO will develop and implement strategies to address diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging issues and identify barriers to equity and inclusion. Leading People: The EIO will foster an inclusive workplace, facilitating cooperation, teamwork, and conflict resolution while guiding County departments to promote equity and inclusion. Results Driven: The EIO will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring programs and metrics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. Business Acumen: The EIO will strategically manage resources, audit, and recommend policies to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts and ensure responsiveness to customer needs. Building Coalitions: The EIO will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve shared goals, provide strategic advice, and assess training needs. Essential Duties: · Develops and implements diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives. · Collaborates with stakeholders to develop departmental, educational and workforce strategies. · Partners with County leaders to provide strategic consultation and policy recommendations. · Develops and/or acquires educational workshops and training programs to increase awareness, knowledge, skills, and competencies in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. · Identifies and monitors meaningful metrics, tools, and analytics to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging efforts. · Provides oversight and coordination for the enterprise equity program. · Maintains knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, best practices, social trends, and service delivery issues and concerns within the community. Grade The grade for this position is 205. Minimum Qualifications: · Bachelor's degree in a related field; · Seven years of professional experience in Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work, including two years supervisory or management experience; · Four years of experience in community or constituent building; · or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. · Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices and the ability to think strategically and work collaboratively; · Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and influence others.
